Tulisa Contostavlos opens up on failed relationship with bandmate Fazer after ITV I’m A Celebrity ‘celibacy’ admission
Former N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos has opened up about her past relationship with bandmate Fazer, describing him as her “safe space” and “safety blanket” during their time together.
Speaking on the We Need To Talk podcast, the 36-year-old singer shared rare insights into their romance, which lasted from 2010 to 2012.
“He was the person that loved me, he was the only person that deserved it because that is real. That’s real to this day,” Tulisa revealed.
The candid revelations come following her recent appearance on I’m A Celebrity, where she made headlines for discussing her current relationship status.
Tulisa explained why the relationship with Fazer ultimately ended, despite their strong connection.
“We just were incompatible. There’s a lot of love there. I feel as if it was inevitable,” she said.
She described their relationship as a natural progression of their close bond: “You have two people that are so close, they’re like family close, they’re like friendship close and they have an attraction there.”
The pair still maintain a strong platonic relationship today, as she added: “We love each other like family. It doesn’t matter if it’s not romantic anymore. That’s my family, that’s my soul family,” Tulisa shared.
Fazer has since settled down with girlfriend Ashley Havelin, with whom he shares four children.
During her time in the jungle, Tulisa revealed she has been celibate for three years and identifies as demisexual – meaning she only experiences sexual attraction after forming a strong emotional connection.
Speaking to The Guardian, she explained: “Having the experiences I’ve had, has put me so far back into my shell. I only deal with people I already know.”
“I’ve just recycled ex-boyfriends for the past 10 years. A new person coming in doesn’t have a chance,” she admitted.
The singer remains optimistic about her future, stating: “I don’t think it’s going to leave me an isolated and alone individual for the rest of my life. What’s meant for me won’t pass me by.”
Tulisa’s best friend Michelle McKenna has expressed concern about the singer’s extended period of celibacy.
“She needs somebody in her life, that needs to be over real soon, she needs to meet a very nice gentleman,” Michelle told MailOnline.
Michelle, who is in a relationship with Tulisa’s friend Daniel Johnson, added: “She’s been on her own for a while and it’s definitely time she finds someone now.”
