JB Gill’s wife fires back at BBC Strictly critics after facing ‘interference’ backlash during Lauren Oakley rehearsals on show
Chloe Gill, the wife of JLS singer and Strictly finalist JB Gill, has seemingly hit back at disgruntled fans who accused her of “interfering” in her hubby’s preparations during his stint.
Strictly Come Dancing may have ended last week with Gill finishing as runner-up to Chris McCausland but it hasn’t stopped fans keeping up to date with the cast and their loved ones now the latest run has ended.
Gill’s spouse, who happens to be a professional dancer, was an ever-present figure in the rehearsal room during his time in the show, right up to the finale.
The JLS singer’s other half was also on hand to support her beau as he navigated his way through the ordeal of swapping pro partners after Lauren Oakley had to step in for Amy Dowden.
However, while her support seemed welcome during several Instagram videos from training shared by both Oakley and Gill, some social media users felt the dancer was stepping on Oakley’s toes.
Now, Gill has taken to Instagram to poke fun at the backlash she received, sharing a clip of her exaggerating her love for her other half.
In a video shared on Instagram, Gill wraps her arms around her husband while exaggerating her relief at having him home to herself.
She wrote in the accompanying caption, mocking the criticism of her presence in the rehearsal room: “When you finally get him back from his strictly throuple #thegills #hesback #strictly #banter.”
The update left her followers in stitches and even prompted Oakley to reply and joke: “Isn’t JB the third wheeler in this?!”
Elsewhere, others threw their backing behind Gill in light of the backlash, with one replying: “This is why I love you Chloe you are your man’s biggest cheerleader xxx.”
“You guys are everything,” a second echoed before a third typed: “I’m howling… thank GOD.”
Elsewhere, Dowden also saw the funny side of the entire ordeal as she gave Gill a ‘like’ on the post.
Gill’s comedic take on the reception she received during her husband’s Strictly stint comes just days after she delivered her verdict on his time on the show.
While the likes of Dianne Buswell and Tasha Ghouri took just 24 hours to share their reflective statements on the series, Gill decided she needed a few days to ponder over the finale.
“It’s taken me a few days to process the last 13 weeks,” she began in an Instagram post.
“Firstly, thank you to every single person that voted for @jbgill and @laurenmayoakley in the @bbcstrictly final! The support has been amazing and truly overwhelming.
