Ferne McCann recalls horror A&E dash after ice rink incident ahead of ITV Dancing on Ice stint
Dancing on Ice star Ferne McCann shared the horror hospital dash she experienced with her previous experience with ice skating ahead of her debut on the show.
This Sunday, McCann, Charlie Brooks, Chelsee Healey, Chris Taylor, Sam Aston, Mollie Pearce, Sir Steve Redgrave, Anton Ferdinand, Dan Edgar, Josh Jones, and Michaela Strachan will take to the ice for their first live show.
Over the last few months, the celebrities have been training non-stop to perfect their first routines in order to impress judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Former TOWIE star McCann is paired with Brendyn Hatfield and has been keeping her Instagram followers updated on their progress.
The star was recently asked if she had any skating experience, to which she explained: “My experience mainly revolves around taking Sunday to Winter Wonderland and Lapland which I actually think will come in handy.
“Any parent that has taken their child skating will know how stressful it is, you’re hunched over a penguin holding your child which is carnage and chaos so that has hopefully put me in good practice.
“My first ever experience on the ice wasn’t great and left me scarred and the first time I ever went to A&E and got stitches.
“I went to an ice-skating party when I was seven and this boy skated into me and his skate went into my leg but I love that story because like anything in my life, I get back up and here we are.”
Adding what she was most nervous about, she added: “The pressure of learning the routines and the live shows but I think nerves show that you care and are a good thing.
“I just hope as well as learning the skill I’m able to nail the routines each week, I’m more excited than anything.”
The star recently posted on her Instagram account to share her excitement about finally taking to the ice, sharing an image of her and Hatfield.
She captioned the post: “4 more sleeps. The countdown is on! I can’t believe the moment is finally here – Dancing on Ice starts THIS Sunday!
“I’m so excited (and a little nervous!) to step onto the ice and show you all what I’ve been working so hard on. It’s been a journey of laughs, challenges, and so much growth already.
“This experience has truly pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I’m so grateful for the incredible team and my amazing skating partner @brendynhatfield for supporting me every step of the way. Ice skating is no joke!
“Let’s do this! Tune in Sunday, and cheer me on – I can’t wait to take you all on this icy adventure with me! Wish us luck.” (sic)
Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are also returning as the show’s hosts after Mulhern stepped into the role last year and left viewers thrilled with his singing.
