Caitlyn Jenner speaks out after sparking ‘hypocrisy’ row with Trump support amid ‘two genders’ inauguration speech
Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out after she sparked controversy for attending Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration ball, continuing her long-standing support for the Republican leader.
The reality TV star joined other high-profile guests including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jake and Logan Paul at Monday’s prestigious ceremony where Trump was sworn in for his second term.
Trump’s inaugural address sparked immediate controversy when he announced sweeping changes to gender policy in the United States.
“We will forge a society that is colour-blind and merit-based. As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” Trump declared.
The president stated that government documents would now use the term “sex” rather than “gender”, based on “an individual’s immutable biological classification”.
Following Trump’s words, a number of social media users quickly branded Jenner a “hypocrite” for supporting Trump, given the fact she is herself a trans woman.
“Literally announced that you don’t exist today. Were you front row for that?” one user wrote in response to one of Jenner’s posts on inauguration day.
Another commented: “What a flex to proudly support a man who just said his Day 1 priority is to take your rights away.”
“Please have some self respect and don’t do this to yourself,” urged a third user.
On Tuesday, Jenner ignored naysayers as she returned to the social media platform to once again celebrate the return of Trump to the White House.

Deciding not to comment on the “hypocrisy” row or the gender remarks by Trump, Jenner instead wrote: “One of my favorite pictures from last nights starlight ball.
“The golden Age has begun. @JudgeJeanine @AlinaHabba @PamBondi & Sophia Hutchins,” she signed off.
Jenner looked glamorous at Trump’s Starlight Ball, wearing a black dress paired with a smart blazer.
Her manager and close friend, Sophia Hutchins, who also identifies as a trans woman, also shared several photographs of the evening on social media.
“Inauguration 2025! Starlight Ball. A New Golden Age is upon us,” Hutchins wrote alongside images of the celebration.
The photos captured Trump and Melania dancing with the First Family during the festivities.
Notably, Hutchins disabled comments on her social media post amid the growing controversy.
The pair were among numerous celebrities and business leaders who attended the prestigious ball following Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
Jenner has maintained a complex relationship with Republican politics throughout her public life as a transgender woman.
The former Olympian has consistently identified as a Republican, previously stating she has “gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.”

In 2016, she initially supported Trump but withdrew her backing in 2018, citing his administration’s attacks on the trans community.
However, by April 2024, Jenner had once again reversed her position to support Trump’s presidential bid.
In 2021, she ran for Governor of California in the state’s recall election as a Republican candidate, finishing 13th with one percent of the vote.
During that campaign, she sparked controversy by opposing trans girls’ participation in school sports, aligning with Republican Party views on transgender athletics.
