BBC Strictly viewers ‘sobbing’ as Tasha Ghouri breaks down in tears by surprise guest in finale: ‘Crying like a baby!’
Strictly Come Dancing’s final show of the series threw up plenty of unexpected moments, but one caught viewers and one of the stars by complete surprise.
Tasha Ghouri, 26, has impressed the judges since day one of the competition. Partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec, the former Love Island star was given an extra special gift after performing one of her final dances.
Ghouri had explained earlier in the show that her family was watching from around the world, including her brother who had been supporting her all the way from Australia.
Each of the couples performed a previous dance selected by the judges, followed by a final Latin or Ballroom number and ending with the much-anticipated Show Dance.
After Ghouri and Skorjanec’s second routine, the pair were delighted as the judges showered them with praise.
After they achieved another perfect score of 40, Winkleman turned to Ghouri to comment: “Congratulations – I have to ask you about your family.
“Because they’ve supported you from all over the world – tell me about that.”
Taking a breath, an emotional Ghouri responded: “My dad, my mum – you know, Andrew (Le Page), everyone.
“Thank you for supporting me. I’m so lucky to have such a great circle around me who truly love me, uplift me, keep me strong and keep me going, keep me motivated.
“So this is for them and thank you for all the fans as well that have supported us, genuinely, thank you.”
“Tasha, very beautifully said – tell me about your brother,” Winkleman requested.
“My brother… he’s in Australia right now,” Ghouri replied, looking moved by the thought of her older sibling.
“He’s probably with all the kangaroos, having the time of his life!”
“I’m jealous,” Skorjanec interjected before Ghouri concluded: “But my brother’s just so supportive.
“I really miss him… He can’t be here today, but I miss him a lot.”
“Tasha… he wanted to watch you dance live,” Winkleman revealed, adding: “Here he is,” as her brother Alex made his way through the crowd of professional dancers to meet his sister.
A stunned Ghouri placed her hands to her face as Alex ran towards her and they shared an emotional embrace.
The dancers behind her were soon drying their eyes along with them at the emotional scene as Alex commented: “I can’t describe it, sitting out in Australia watching your little sister dance and follow all your dreams… You’re just so, so special,” before hugging Ghouri once again.
Taking to X, viewers made it clear the stars of the show weren’t the only ones in tears.
“Not tasha’s brother turning up from australia for her oh i am CRYING #Strictly,” one wrote.
“Crying at Tasha reuniting with her brother was NOT on my #Strictly bingo card,” a second penned.
