Max George, 36, delivers huge health update after urgent operation for ‘heart issues’ pushed forward: ‘Time to rest!’
Max George, 36, has provided an upbeat and candid update after having a pacemaker fitted.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, the Wanted singer revealed the operation to have the implement fitted had been a success after initially fearing he’d be hospital-bound for Christmas earlier this month.
After seeking help for “heart issues”, George confirmed five days ago that doctors were looking to push his operation date forward due to his heart rate not “picking up”.
It appears the operation took place on Saturday, December 21 as later that day, George shared a photo of his scar as he detailed the ordeal.
George penned to his 384k followers: “Say hello to my little friend!
“Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for.”
Delving into the specifics of the operation, George went on: “Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours.
“The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.
“The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after.”
The tattoo in question was a tribute to his late Wanted bandmate Tom Parker who died in 2022 following a battle with glioblastoma. The tattoo is of his date of birth.
Concluding his latest update, George signed off: “Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that’ll be easy work!
“Time to rest and then tackle life full on once again. Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family. Much love, Max.”
Within minutes, George was inundated with well wishes from his fans and friends – including some famous faces.
Strictly alum Kai Widdrington shared a series of love heart emojis while pro dancer Neil Jones penned: “Sending you love bro and rest up.”
Elsewhere, Westlife singer Nicky Byrne also added to the well wishes by saying: “Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
“I’m so glad you’re ok!!” soap star Amy Walsh also weighed while other Strictly stars including Katya Jones and JB Gill ‘liked’ the update. (sic)

George stopped short of revealing when and if he’ll be able to make it home in time for December 25.
He first sparked concerned on December 12 when he confirmed he’d felt “unwell” and was admitted to hospital with “heart issues”.
He said at the time: “I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.
“It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.” (sic)
However, earlier this week, George hinted he may actually be home for Christmas Day after having his surgery pushed forward at the doctors’ request.
George shot to fame as part of the boyband The Wanted and has also achieved household status as part of the Strictly cast of 2020.
He has been in a relationship with EastEnders star Maisie Smith since late 2022.
